The Trawler Catamaran Concept
With Catamarans
increasingly popular, designers are constantly creating new designs for greater
comfort and stability. One such innovation is that of trawler catamarans. Where
catamarans are known for their speed, and trawlers for their stability, the new
Trawlercats bring out the best in them-exceptional comfort, agility, protection
and fuel efficiency. They are definitely faster than traditional trawlers, as
they can pierce the waves easily.
Trawlercats
designed Technology behind the Trawlercats Twin hull provides undeniable
stability. Trawler catamarans sit comfortably in the water, with their wide
spaced hulls and their own buoyancy centre. This enhances boat performance
overall. Another advantage of the hulls is that they can cope with any weather
conditions at sea and maintain constant speed without interfering with people's
comfort on board. Because of the tunnel effect created by the narrow hull and
its shallow draft, the boat is not swaying side-to-side, thus giving no cause
for marine sickness. Semi-displacement hull pierces easily through the wave,
providing high speeds under harsh conditions as they do not produce bow wave
resistance as a monohull powerboat. Reduced drag created by the two hulls and
their ability to pierce the waves results in low fuel consumption.
Safety
Trawlercats sit comfortably on the twin hull due to fixed skegs, without
damaging any propellers, shafts or rudders. Skegs are designed to protect the
propellers in the event of any impact or collision at sea.
Spacious and
comfortable The Trawler catamarans are both spacious and comfortable because
they have twin hulls. It becomes easier to cook and serve some delicious food
and enjoy it with your family and friends with the cockpit, galley and saloon
on the same level. The galley has enough storage capacity and is equipped with
quality furnishings and panoramic views. Staircase from the saloon leads both
the owner and the crew to the cabins below deck. The Trawler catamaran's width
provides large passageways to move around the boat with ease.
A lot of
manufacturers have come up with exclusive catamaran trawler boats. One of them
is the Summerland 40 of the Fountaine Pajot which comes with 160 hp, 190 hp and
220 hp and can deliver the top up to 7.5 knots, 13.5 knots, and 24 knots
respectively. Some Trawlercats have enhanced stability, comfort and speed
faster than any trawler.
A Glacier Bay's
major drawbacks are that it's expensive. Experienced monohull boaters may also
not get used to how a catamaran feels when they mostly run flat and lean
outboard during sharp turns.
Glacier Bay
Boats Unlike the usual catamarans ' unique look, Glacier Bay boats are more
stylish and suit all the needs of a boating family. The semi-displacement hulls
provide lift, stability and buoyancy. What distinguishes it from catamarans is
that it has full-fibreglass liner and the hatches and hardtops are molded with
resin transfer. The displacement hulls of the Glacier Bay help the boat to
traverse the waters at high speed, rather than skipping over it, thus providing
a smooth ride. When it moves faster, most catamaran hulls lift up onto the
water surface. The twin-shaped hull prevents the Glacier Bay from rising on an
aircraft thus reducing any major impacts during high speed, such as bouncing or
pounding.
